Counsellors regularly take the camper out for paddle boat and canoe rides.

A standing joke in my house is that I didn’t just marry my husband, I married Camp Lemieux as well. From 2002 – 2008 my husband was the director of Camp Lemieux and we are now both on the Board of Directors.  Over the years I have also been Camper, CIT, Counsellor, Cook and Volunteer. It is safe to say that this particular youth camp on the shores Lac Pelletier holds a very special place in our hearts. It gave us many friendships as children, it strengthened our moral character, it provided us leadership opportunities and it introduced us to a number of mentors we look up to as family members. Perhaps most importantly it gave us countless moments of laughter and built a thousand memories.

This past weekend we were there cleaning up and preparing for the busy summer by getting the docks in the water, mowing lawns, raking leaves and anything else that could lodge a bit more dirt under our fingernails. We both agree, as we turned off of Highway 4 towards Lac Pelletier we feel like we are going to our second home.

I want to keep this post short and ask you tell us where your GoHere home away from home is located. Most importantly, what makes it special for you.
